It was a beautiful Sunday morning, and the sun had just begun peeking through the curtains. The house was quiet, peaceful, and still—except for one very restless little monkey. Monkey Lyly had opened her eyes bright and early, buzzing with excitement. Today was the day her mother had promised to take her out for a walk and maybe even a stop at the street market. But for Monkey Lyly, “later” felt like forever
She sat beside her mom, who was still sound asleep, curled up in cozy blankets. Lyly stared at her mom’s peaceful face, tilting her head as if to say, “Really? Still sleeping?” She tried waiting for a few minutes… then gently poked her mom’s arm. No response. So she poked a little harder. Still nothing.
That’s when Monkey Lyly’s patience ran out completely.
She began gently tugging on her mom’s hand, whispering, “Mom… mom… let’s goooo!” When whispering didn’t work, she jumped onto her mom’s back like a tiny backpack, giggling and trying to pull her up. “Wake up! The sun is up! The street food is waiting!”
Her mom mumbled, half-asleep, “Just a few more minutes, Lyly…”
But Monkey Lyly was determined. She ran to the window, pulled open the curtain, and let the sunlight pour in. She grabbed her little shoes, put them on all by herself (well, one was on the wrong foot), and then returned with her tiny backpack slung over her shoulder like a little adventurer on a mission.
Seeing all this, her mom finally smiled, still groggy, and sat up. “Okay, okay, I get it,” she said with a laugh. “You win, little monkey!”
With a squeal of joy, Lyly grabbed her mom’s hand and practically dragged her out of bed. That morning, they headed out together—Lyly’s eyes full of excitement, and her mom’s heart full of love for her impatient but incredibly adorable daughter.
