Monkey Lyly had always been the center of attention in her mother’s eyes. She was used to being cuddled, played with, and showered with love every single day. But today, something felt different.
As she swung down from her favorite tree, Lyly noticed something that made her little heart sink—her mother was playing with a baby, completely focused on the tiny one and not paying attention to her. The baby giggled happily as Lyly’s mother gently tickled its belly and stroked its soft hair. Normally, Lyly would have been right there, enjoying the same love and affection. But today, she felt left out.
Lyly’s face changed instantly. She tilted her head, watching closely, her little hands gripping a nearby branch tightly. Her usual happy chirps turned into quiet, disappointed noises. She climbed closer, trying to get her mother’s attention, but it was as if she wasn’t even there.
Feeling frustrated, Lyly decided to take matters into her own hands. She jumped onto her mother’s lap, squeezing herself between her and the baby, demanding to be noticed. Her mother chuckled and gently patted Lyly’s head, but she quickly returned her attention to the baby. This was not what Lyly wanted! She wanted all of her mother’s love, just like before.
Not giving up, Lyly tried everything to get noticed. She tugged at her mother’s arm, made funny faces, and even playfully stole a small fruit her mother had placed beside her. But no matter what she did, her mother kept playing with the baby.
Finally, Lyly couldn’t hold back her emotions anymore. She pouted, let out a little whimper, and turned away, crossing her arms in frustration. It was only then that her mother realized how upset she was. With a warm smile, she reached out and pulled Lyly into a loving hug, stroking her fur gently.
Lyly’s jealousy faded as she melted into her mother’s embrace. She may have to share her love now, but in that moment, she understood—no matter what, her mother would always have enough love for both of them.
