It started with a soft rustling behind the garden shed. A tiny ball of fluff, eyes wild with fear and fur matted with dirt, peeked out. It was a feral kitten—scared, hissing, and clearly in need of help. No one knew how long she had been out there, but it was clear she had never known the gentle touch of a human hand.
I approached slowly, crouching low, speaking in a soothing voice. It took patience—and tuna—but eventually, she allowed herself to be picked up, trembling and wide-eyed. The moment I brought her inside, the real challenge began: bath time.
She hissed, scratched, and flailed in every direction, doing her best to look big and intimidating despite being the size of my hand. Her tiny claws were surprisingly sharp, and she made it clear this wasn’t her idea of a good time. But her fur was caked with mud and fleas, and I couldn’t let her stay like that.
With a deep breath, I gently placed her in a basin of warm water. At first, it was chaos. She tried to leap out, meowing loudly, her little face filled with panic. But then… something unexpected happened.
