The Reason Why Mom Hang Is Not at Home with Diem and Quynh
It had been a quiet morning in the house, and the usual warmth of Mom Hang’s presence was noticeably missing. Diem and Quynh sat by the window, their eyes flickering toward the gate every few minutes, hoping to see her familiar silhouette appear. But the truth was, Mom Hang had to leave home for an important reason — one that made her absence both meaningful and necessary.
Mom Hang had been called away to visit her elderly parents in the countryside. Her mother had recently fallen ill, and being the eldest daughter, she felt the responsibility to be by her parents’ side and help take care of them during this time. Though it broke her heart to leave her two beloved children behind, she knew they would understand if they knew the reason.
Before leaving, she gently explained to Diem and Quynh that sometimes love means stepping away for a little while to take care of others who need help too. Diem, although sad, tried to be brave. Quynh, being younger, didn’t quite grasp everything but followed Diem’s lead.
Back at home, Dad tried his best to keep the house running. He cooked breakfast — slightly overcooked eggs and toast — and did his best to braid Quynh’s hair, though the results left the girls giggling. Despite the small hiccups, these little moments became special memories in their own way.
Each night before bed, Diem and Quynh would send a voice message to their mom, sharing how their day went and telling her how much they missed her. In return, Mom Hang would send back sweet words and promises to come home soon with hugs, stories, and maybe even a few surprise gifts.
Though the house felt a little emptier without her, Diem and Quynh grew closer, and learned just how strong love can be — even when someone isn’t right by your side. And they knew, deep down, that Mom Hang’s heart was always with them, no matter where she was.
