Diem was happy to see her mom return after many days away
It had been a long week for Diem. Her mom had to travel for work, and though Diem knew it was important, she missed her terribly. Every night, she would sit by the window, watching for any sign of her mom’s return. Each day felt longer than the last as she waited, counting down the days until she could see her again.
Finally, the day arrived. Diem had just finished her homework when she heard the sound of the front door opening. Her heart skipped a beat. She rushed down the stairs, her feet barely touching the ground as she sprinted toward the hallway.
There, standing in the doorway, was her mom—smiling and holding a suitcase in her hand.
“Mom!” Diem cried, her voice a mix of excitement and relief. She ran into her mom’s arms, hugging her tightly. The feeling of finally being close to her mom again made all the time apart feel worth it.
“I missed you so much,” Diem whispered, her voice muffled against her mom’s jacket. Her mom laughed softly, hugging her even tighter.
“I missed you too, my sweet girl,” her mom said, kissing the top of her head. “It’s so good to be home.”
Diem pulled back just slightly to look up at her mom, a wide smile spreading across her face. “I’m so happy you’re home! I have so many things to tell you!”
Her mom chuckled. “I can’t wait to hear everything! Let’s get settled, and then we’ll have a long chat, just you and me.”
Diem’s heart swelled with happiness. After days of feeling lonely and counting the hours, her mom was finally back. As they sat down together and started talking, Diem knew that the best part of the week had finally arrived—being reunited with the one she loved most.
